I am soooo proud of you. When you're getting dressed and you're feeling overcome with nerves, just use that time to visualize what you want to do...don't think of the big picture, just each tiny little thing you want to do. Go through all the steps in your head and DO NOT leave any space in there for negative thoughts to creep in!
Also realize that even in "perfection" there are flaws. Even the best performances include little mistakes, and it does not matter. And most of things a performer is acutely aware of, most others will not even notice. If something doesn't go perfectly according to plan, just let it go...the second it happens that second is gone and you have moved beyond it, so don't critique yourself in the moment. Remember, you are among people who are not there to judge you, but to support you. Think of the girl in your class who you wrote about recently, and how you felt towards her in her moment of weakness. Realize that as you are a bundle of a thousand doubts and negative thoughts that you are not alone, that you are surrounded by some amazingly supportive women who understand how you feel and are pulling for you. Just keep looking forward and focusing on the next thing, and before you know it you'll be done and you'll have accomplished something you told yourself a thousand times you could never do. And that, my dear friend, is something about which you should be truly proud!
You are my hero oh Sequined Daredevil, even before the first note plays, for fighting through all the fear and summoning the courage and strength to step so far out of what had been the limits of your comfort zone.
And you are going to be amazing, because you ARE amazing! So get out there tonight and kill it!
